As I've explained in detail, the top of the clips have nothing to do with how the trim sits. The only reason the top of the black clip is shorter is because the lower retaining arms position the black clip higher. The white clips can have a taller top because they sit lower due to the position of the retaining arms. Sanding the top of a white clip does absolutely nothing with regard to the position of the trim, it only creates more of a gap between the top of the clip and the inside of the trim. Post up a picture of how the rear of your trim sits, I can guarantee you it's not a tight oem fit.
